Stacey-Lee Christon

Family Focus Coordinator

Stacey will be part of the joint ‘Safer Streets’ initiative with DCC to provide bespoke support to young people and their families:

After leaving school I studied Law, Media and English at college before moving on to study Media and English at Teesside University. Whilst studying I worked in retail for a while before moving into hospitality and working as a restaurant manager. After completing my studies, I pursued a career in journalism, working for a local newspaper and reporting community news, before specialising in crime and court reporting. My time spent in the court room opened my eyes to the difficulties faced by many and I was inspired to join the force to try and help those in need to live a better life.

As a teenager I grew up with looked after children as my mother was a foster carer. We fostered around twenty children throughout my childhood, and I feel strongly about supporting and safeguarding children and young people. I am passionate about education and my community and volunteer often at my child’s school and their sports club. I am a strong believer that it takes a village to raise a child and the power of a positive role model in a young person’s life cannot be underestimated.

As a family focused co-ordinator within the Peer Mentors Scheme, I am committed to helping families and young people live a happy and fulfilled life.
